These two flies look much alike to me except for the abdomen(?)
Can anyone tell me what I see?

yes
Your are looking at a Psilid in the genus Loxocera, easily recognized by the very long third antennal segment.
In the first picture, you see the long ovipositor of the female. They use it to deposit eggs in plants, since the larvae are phytophagous.
In the second picture, you have either a male or a female with retracted ovipositor. That I cannot tell.

Btw: far most common species is Loxocera albiseta. This specimen looks very much like this species. Where is the photo taken?
