I would like some help towards "IDing" this fly.
Could it belong to the Bombilidae family?

Hello fernando,
This is a member of the family Tabanidae, and it's in the genus Pangonius.
Maybe Theo (or somebody else! :D ) can tell you more about the species!

Very beautiful Tabanidae. Here in Viseu is not usual to see Tabanidae. I saw here just once time. :( It seems really a Pangonius sp.
another portuguese - friend of mine- took this photo to Pangonius sp.
