Hello,

This looks like Cerodontha, it was attracted to the outside light in the very early hours of 27th June. Size not much more than 2mm. Near Lincoln UK.

It appears to have a protrusion from the face.

As Irina has identified another Milichiidae as a female possible Phyllomyza securicornis I wonder if this could be the male?

I agree that this is a Phyllomyza and probably a male, but I don't think it is P. securicornis because the pubescence on the basiflagellomere is not long enough. However, I can't really tell from this photo. A lateral shot would be better.

Thank you Irina! Unfortunately I only got the one shot and that was at 2.49am while stood on a chair under the outside night light! :D

Here's a list of the Phyllomyza species we have..
