This one was much smaller than the classical Empis I see. I suspect might be another genus and I would like to make sure it doesn't belong to a different family. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Empis (Empis) sp. Without a proper look at the male genitalia will not try to put a name on it. Too many unknowns in Spain...

Thanks a bunch for your reply, Paul! I am pretty happy to know it is indeed an Empis. What I really wanted was to make sure it wasn't any of the families that are yet well beyond my knowledge!

All the best
