Hi syrphers,
I realize it's extremely difficult to ID this by photo, but please give it a try. Thanks.

Well Andr?,
I would say none of the three genera mentioned!:D
This is the male of Dasysyrphus albostriatus, well recognised by the two white lines on the thorax!
Greetings, Gerard

Thank you Gerard, maybe I should buy that book that van Veen wrote? Is it any good? I don't know much about syrphs or any other family for that matter. That still is my problem: where do I find good ID-ing info on the different families? Not the right place for this discussion, I know.
Thanks again.
Andr
