This fly was attracted to mercury vapor light.
Is it Homoneura incerta? I looked at a lot of photos in the likely families, and H. incerta seemed the best match. Not sure if this species is found over there in the Palearctic; it seems to be one of North America's very common species.
About 5.3 mm. Open area near woodlands, West Virginia USA, 1 October 2006.
