4mm wing, Moor Piece Wood, Clitheroe UK, 23 March 2011.
I caught two female Simuliidae yesterday. Are they determinable from specimens? Anyone got a key?

Looks like
Simulium based on short R cell and minute or absent basal M cell. The marked legs and thorax are also consistent; about half the holarctic subgenera have them. I don't know how to ID European species.
