BugGuide suggested this is
Fannia or near. Found March 17, 2011 on fallen leaves in deciduous woods in Massachusetts, USA.
Larger sizes:
dorsal,
ventral
It resembles some beetles and mealybugs, but is clearly different from any I have seen pictures of.

it is the larva of a Fannidae, but I'm not familiar with the Nearctic fauna, so I can't tell if there is more than one genus overthere (besides Fannia).

Are there any keys to North American Fanniidae larvae, or other useful references?

I acquired the last revision (Chillcott 1961) and identified this as
Fannia cf.
brevipalpis (related to European
minutipalpis). Most American larvae are unknown.
