It is Pangoniinae : Scioni, either Scaptia or Pseudoscione.

I have only experience with East Australia, west Australia is totally different (as far as Tabanidae are concerned), so I need to work on this.

Bryan Lessard, an Australian student on our PEET grant who is revising Scaptia, says "Yeah it's Scaptia (Scaptia) tricolor, distinguishing features are the scutal vittae and the wing patterns. Nice pictures."

FYI, Pseudoscione is currently considered a subgenus of Scaptia, in the tribe Scionini. The generic limits might change once Bryan's work is finished.
