It is Pangoniinae : Scioni, either Scaptia or Pseudoscione.
I have only experience with East Australia, west Australia is totally different (as far as Tabanidae are concerned), so I need to work on this.

Bryan Lessard, an Australian student on our PEET grant who is revising
Scaptia, says "Yeah it's
Scaptia (
Scaptia)
tricolor, distinguishing features are the scutal vittae and the wing patterns. Nice pictures."
FYI,
Pseudoscione is currently considered a subgenus of
Scaptia, in the tribe Scionini. The generic limits might change once Bryan's work is finished.
