Definately Syrphus, but is that shading on the hind femur? This is female, if shaded could be S. torvus (maybe hairy eyes? Not sure), rectus, vitripennis or another you may have that we don't in the UK.

Female ribesii should have all-yellow hind femora. Further (less quality-compressed) images may make things clearer shade-wise :)

Good sight! On this other picture I have (the only other one), the shaded third femur is clearly visible. No hairs on the eyes. I thus think this is Syrphus vitripennis. Would you agree?

S. vitripennis is characterised by I believe only sparse microtrichae on the basal wing-cells, which is a microscope job.

I'd go with Syrphus cf. vitripennis.
