Hi

This syrphid is from spring, 07.05.2010

Is it really Dasysyrphus, if yes species is possible?

Thanks! Best regards, Brigitte

I can confirm Dasysyrphus. I won't burn my fingers trying to suggest the species.

I think this is D. lenensis (female), because of the following characters:
- yellow marks on tergites 2-4 separated from lateral margins;
- yellow marks on tergites 3-4 medially strongly constricted;
- antenna entirely black;
- frons with dust spots well defined and medially separated from each other.

Hi Menno
Hi Paul

Thank you!
I would be happy to upload the pics into Gallery even the quality of the pic is not as well as it should. I found a pic from the front side of this syrphid. Please tell me if ID is sure enough for you, for upload into Gallery.

Best Regards, Brigitte
