Hello,

It took me forever to find this, it looks to be a Microphor sp. originally in the family Microphoridae but now is included in Dolichopodidae, subfamily Microphorinae. Is that correct?

20th June, on my door, near Lincoln UK. Size ~4mm

We have Microphor anomalus, M. crassipes and M. holosericeus.

Hello Janet, as far as I know for quite some time Microphor was regarded as part of the Empididae. Then, when coming to a large superfamily, Empidoidea, which includes also the Dolichopodidae, a separate famliy Microphoridae was described. Well, maybe since then there were new developments, but I am not aware of. I am very interested to hear of this. I guess Paul will react. He also will certainly say what your little fly it. I cannot decided whether it is a Microphoridae or Atelestidae.

These threads are good for updates and learning Ruud. As a beginner in many of these I don't know what came before, so I search the site and find out helpful clues!

For me particularly. I studied with big interest the introduction in Milan Chvala's work on the Empidoidea. So, any new about this subject is more than welcome to me.
