Hello,

This brave fly was on my door on 12th December on a cold dull day, near Lincoln UK.

I have both S. graminum and pallida, I doubt this is a female graminum but could it be a male? Size around 3mm

I have yet to discover what the difference is between the two species apart from the rear end of a female graminum. ;) If anyone can tell me that would be great. Thanks!

3 pics.

Janet :)

Definitely pallida: two rows of ac.

Thank you Paul! Now I know what to look for. :)

It looks like S. graminum has 4 rows of ac.
