Hello!
In contrast to the many 12 mm individuals this one from our couryard (northwest Germany) measured only 7-8 mm.

Size is of little relevance, it just indicates the amount of food the larva got.
However, the basicosta does look pretty dark, which makes this a candidate Calliphora loewi.
Any other pics, no matter how bad ?
Or collected specimen ???

Hello, Theo!
I'm afraid I only have three nearly identical pictures from the same angle. Here is a less compressed one (179 KB).

It really does look like C. loewi, I'm pretty but not totally convinced.
Pity we don't have a lateral (head)shot.
any aberrant Calliphora in October should always be checked for loewi !!

Yesterday I saw again such a small, dark
Calliphora at the same place and hoped to get some better pictures, but it was away. before I could take a single shot. :|

Today there even was one of the small, dark ones in our kitchen at the cat's food bowl. But I did not have the camera at hand. I only have some pics of two individuals in the garden. I'm afraid, again not from best angles...
Two 1200x1200 pictures of the first one:
