Hello,

I was confused by this one! In the end I opted for Heleomyzidae.

17th October on Ivy, my garden near Lincoln UK.

3 pics..

Thank you Andrzej!

We have for species listed of Tephrochlamys, it doesn't look like the two in the gallery which are T. flavipes and rufiventris, to me at least!

That would leave T. tarsalis and laeta if not the others. Any further ideas on which species?

Probably darker from of T. rufiventris (earlier known as T. canescens). I cannot be sure if the specimen is not yet studied !

Fantastic remark, Andrzej, in my notes I have indeed a "?" at T. canescens. I thought this animal is a Tephrochlamys, but the fly was so dark.

I checked my photos from last year, I have poor pics of a female on a window which look like T. rufiventris taken in May.
