Hello!

This fly from yesterday (Ostwestfalen/Germany) was about the size of a house fly (8-10 mm) but more compact. Found on leaves at the forest edge. Could it be a Tachinid? Thanks in advance!

Hi J?rgen - not Tachinidae (no bend in vein M and not one of the exceptions to that rule).;)
I'd say Muscidae, probably Polietes domitor (= albolineatus) male.

Thanks! Not every fly with stiff hairs must be a Tachinid... ;-)
