I find these little flies a challenge! This one measured 2.4 mm and was photographed in an open area, West Virginia USA, 3 September 2006.

Note: I changed the subject line to attract the attention of those people interested in the Long-Legged Flies, thanks to Nikita for identifying the family.

Sorry, no characters to identify subfamily, either Sympycninae or Diaphorinae (Chrysotus). Antenna? Face? Apex of abdomen laterally?

Nikita, Igor, thanks for your help with this fly. I am glad to have it identified to family. I was not able to get any additional angles, unfortunately.
