Can anyone tell me a good character for distinguishing these two species, please?

You will find the 1st dc of albiceps on the sutur or shortly behind it, for others like sordida the distance is bigger.
The male of albiceps has only 1 orbital, the others have 2.
The female albiceps has spots on the 5th and 6th abd. segment, the female of sordida has no spots on the abdomen.
Also typical for sordida is that the first femur has on the innerside near the top a dark spot .
Is this sufficient? I have the info from Papp's key. I have both species in my collection. I think both species are fairly different

Thanks very much. I'm sure that will enable me to separate them.

Ruud, can you check the colour of the palps in your specimens of
sordida, which is now called
halidayi Shatalkin, 2000 (
Sapromyza sordida Haliday, 1833 is not the same as the North American
Sapromyza sordida Wiedemann, 1830).
