Whilst trying to photograph some diptera in the garden this afternoon, this obliging Nowickia ferox (am I correct in thinking it is Nowickia ferox?) landed on my leg and allowed me to photograph her?
It's not always this easy!!

Not so much grey as bleached in the sun - and I think Nowickia looks good in trainers!:S

Hmm...must have got dressed in the dark...shoes are on wrong feet...flies, no dress sense...or you have the version of Photoshop for left-handers.

Bleached in the Sun....what is the Sun. Is it the thing that used to shine up in the sky...haven't seen it in a long time.....

We're suffering a drought here in the SE, it's been a bit cloudy for a couple of days but the temperature has been up around 25-27C for what seems like weeks now. Looking on Google maps you are about as far north from this corner of Kent as we are north of Pisa in Italy, so you'd expext a bit of difference!
How are the Shetlands? I've been to the Western Isles many times but not made it up to the Shetlands (yet!) I bet it is still light tho!

:| Getting dark at about 10 PM now, midsummer it is light..ish all night. Had a game of golf at 1 am (well I say golf, more like flog in my case).
Rain has been chucking it down up here...12-16C. Which bit of Kent...Man of Kent or Kentish Man? Ah Pisa :), played in a band there for a month in the back end of the 70's. American Base..Camp Darby....Redneck Central :|
Hope you make it up here sometime....June-July is the best time to visit.
Glad to see anyone off Diptera info up here...always welcome to stay.
Plenty of room in the garden shed or newly painted greenhouse...:D
