This fly was offered to me by faluke. He caught the fly in Almeria in 2010.V.06

Almeria? Is it a territory named after a famous amateur dipterologist? :D
I hope this family will turn up in Hungary some day. These weeks at least the temperatures are quite mediterranian-like here...

this genus is also present in Romania.
If you go to Turkey look out for Hirmoneura.. (and collect it... )
as for almerķa... Almerķa has a borderline arid/semi-arid climate with Mediterranean influences. It has the sunniest, warmest and driest climate in Europe. Almerķa enjoys about 3000 hours of sunshine annually with around 320 sunny days a year on average. ;)
