Hi,

this fly was identified as Eristalinus sp in a different Forum.
Can any of the experts here determine the exact species?

Length approx 5-6 mm
Hamburg, Germany, 17-July-2010

Thanks & Rgds

(P.S. Multiple attachments would make things much easier... )

The eyes are converging, but they don't touch. So it's a male, and Eristalinus sepulchralis.

Also the markings on tergites 2,3 look right for that species.

Chris.
