I keyed this out to Phyllomya volvulus. I don't think it is right though afetr comparing with a photo on Chris Raper's Tachinid site. Any comments on ID?

Hi Nigel
The arista is long plumose, which should have triggered all alarmbells !
(Long plumose arista do occur in Tachinidae, for instance in Dexiini, but are quite unusual)

Thanks Theo, that's a very useful ID hint. These elemenatry mistakes are all part of the learning process!
