Thread subject: Diptera.info :: [Epistrophe melanostoma] Syrphus sp ?

Sorry, these are not so good picts, but maybe they're good enough anyway to tell more about the ID ? I think about some Syrphus sp female, maybe S. ribesii ?

Hello Benoit,
This is a syrphini allright, but not a Syrphus sp.
The thorax is very shiny, suggesting a species of Epistrophe.
In this case I think it is a female of E. melanostoma, allthough one should look at the color of the hairs on the scutellum to see the difference with E. nitidicollis.
