Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Merodon equestris var. bulborum?

Can anyone confirm my species ID and that these flies are of the bulborum variety (based on so many black hairs on the thorax and scutellum).

Male: c 11mm Wiltshire meadow 13.6.10
