Hello,
My first experience with such a small Conopid (about 3 mm).
He (or she ??) only seemed to visit Convolvulus, last week, near Heerlen (Kunderberg).
It should be a Thecophora sp., is it possible to be more specific ?
Ben

Hi Ben,
Using the key of Mark van Veen
http://home.hccne...phora.html, my guess would be
T. melanopa, taking in account the size and the colour of femur 3. However an opinion of someone who actually knows the species would be better!

(Most) Thecophora can only be ID'ed reliable by the shape of the female theca, in my experience. The colouration of the legs in correct on average only. However, Jens-Hermann Stuke is the expert, maybe he can do better.

Thanks Jan Willem en Theo,
Reading your comments, I will better put it away as Thecophora sp.
