Or is it Scathophagidae? Photographed mating on the underside of an Omphalotus fungus. I see flies that look like this often when I snap fungi and I'm interested to know what they are.
This one in Creswick, Victoria, Australia

Very fine looking flies. For sure there are Heleomyzidae in Australie, but this couple doesn't look like heleomyzid. I am absolutely not familiar with the Australian diptera fauna, so I can't say what they are, but for one or another reason I thought they look a bit like Dryomyzidae, but possibly I am completely wrong :-)

I think I'll have to go with Heleomyzidae as http://www.ento.csiro.au/education/insects/diptera_families/diptera_families.html does not state the presence of Dryomyzidae in Australia. Thanks for the help Andrzej and rvanderweele!
