Hello!
I found this beautiful
Thereva today near the forest here in Ostwestfalen/Germany. Can the species be determined from the photos? Thanks in advance!

Hi Juergen
I wonder whether this might be a female
Thereva handlirschi. (Not a species I'm familiar with, but the description seems to fit.) This is only a suggestion - it would be best to wait until someone familiar with the central European species can confirm this before adding it, even as a temporary name.

Hi Juergen and Tony,
The species looks very yellow indeed, which makes Tony's guess a good one. However, I can see only 1 pair of dorsocentral bristles on the thorax. If that is correct, the picture cannot represent handlirschi, since this species has 2 pairs of DC before scutellum.
Maybe Juergen can check on an original at higher resolution ?

Below two uncompressed extracts from the photos. But I am not sure, whether they show that detail better...

I can still see only one pair of DC.
But it is difficult to see, so I don't have a final opinion in this matter.
Sometimes we just cannot ID from fotos !
