Just keyed out my first couple of Dolichopodidiae - not expecting to get them right without a little more practice though! Here is my first tentative determination: What do others think it may be?

Hypophyllus obscurellus

and here is a closer view of the genitalae - they appear to have the long hairs on the lamella of Hypophyllus

Sorry to repeat post this, but I wonder if anyone can comment on this fly?

Well, there's little to add, you've done all the work! :)

Excellent! This was only the second small Doli that I have attempted to ID.
Thanks for confirmation Kahis.:D

Hello Igor, nice to see you around!

conopid: Sybistroma obscurella = Hypophyllus obscurellus, with Sybistroma (once again) being the valid genus for this species according to the paper mentioned by Dr Grichanov above. But wait and see, sooner or later someone will disagree with this classification and reinstate Hypophyllus as a valid genus ;)

I think I will just put both names on the det label!
