From yesterday just north of Stockholm, Sweden. Found with a few other flies in a puddle of mud. I think this is an Anthomyiidae sp, maybe even a female Anthomyia pluvialis!?

Edit: ... or perhaps a Limnophora tigrina (Muscidae) ...

It isn't Antomyia.
And it realy looks like female of Limnophora tigrina, but let's wait for experts.

Well remembered Nikita!
Crex- have a look at http://www.dipter...post_11001. Although the female is out of focus, you can see she has the same markings (reminiscent of Anthomyia), so Limnophora tigrina is the ID.
Although it's dangerous to generalise on this forum (:p), as a rule, female anthomyiids either have unmarked abdomens or markings that include a dark line down the middle of the tergites.

I found a few images that might show this species. Is there any other closely related L. species, that has a similar thoraic pattern. If I undestand correctly L. tigrina is rather unique, and difficult ot miss, once one realizes that it is not an Anthomyiid.

I'm not familiar with all the species in Limnophora :( - Kahis may be able to say more about the European fauna.
