Nice picture! It might be Dioctria hyalipennis, but I'm not sure.

Definitely looks like
D. hyalipennis since the risen part below the antennae is so low. The near-species [
i]D. rufipes, which by the way also occurs there in the east (and not here) has a substantially higher "knob" there.

Not a tick expert (or any kind of expert come to think of it :|) but a lot of similar looking ones here, which I assumed grow up to be like this one, (Probably wrong again).
Photographed a couple of days ago meandering around on a wall.
I sent one in previously which Camille ID'd

Ekhohe beautifully enlarged and circled the key element of this case above. And now I'm even more certain that this can't be
rufipes, since that one really has quite a bulge there!

Hi Roger, I don't think your
Trombicula is the same kind of mite, aren't they (or rather the larvae) supposed to parasitise small mammals rather than insects?

Thanks :| Tim I don't often stray into this Forum, and it may be some time before I do so again :). I read up on Acari
after posting my reply :|.
To quote Stephen R "Another dent in my ignorance".
BTW, had a look on your Website and was pleased to see someone give a mention to Diptera.info and the people who determine their flies

Great Artwork B). Well worth a visit.
Sorry for going off topic on this thread...

Very kind of you to say so, Roger. I hope the flies don't take over the blog entirely, but there's always that danger.
I expect my ignorance could give yours a run for it's money, by the way.
I didn't know there was such a thing as off topic.

Well to quote Hugo, (Victor :). not Chavez ;)) " The learned man knows that he is ignorant".
I might be the exception to that particular idea :|.
If there
is such a thing as going off topic, then you can be sure I will have some part in it. ;)
