Hi,
Is this Eristalis abusiva?
Can anyone help me identify these Eristalis?
I take the photo on Kokkola Finland. 31.7.2009

Regards Pentti.

Difficult... this one. Could be E. pseudorupium female... or related. Could also be E. interrupta, but with strange spots and very reddish hairs.

Was it Eristalis arbustorum female?

Yes, also very well possible. Usually it is very clear on the stigma, but not on this picture. I saw you posted a male from the same spot here, so... But I have caught several species of Eristalis, including the mentioned ones, in Finland on one and the same spot.
One other thing in favour for E. arbustorum would be the thickened first tarsa on leg 3, vaguely but not convincingly visible.
