pullig this up, took nice photo of that greeen one today, can anybody confirm that it is
Chironomus plumosus ? Body 7 mm, measured.

I'd be prepared to say this was
Chironomus, but wouldn't trust any species name without a critically examined specimen.

C. plumosus is much larger than 7 mm and has a long beard on the fore tarsi. This superficially resembles the American
C. decorus group, which is typically near 6 mm long, with banded abdomen, and with all wing veins brown.
