This female was about 8 mm.
Is it possible to tell what species?

Indeed a Cheilosia, but it's a male! Not further identifiable from a picture I'm afraid...

You can start collecting coming season and send them to me! I would love to have some more syrphids from the North....:D:D:D:D:D
