Hello,

After thinking another fly I had might be the female of Melinda viridicyanea, I discovered the bright blue one and I have one of those, bright blue that is! With a nice purple tinge.;)

Two pics only, taken on 8th June 2009 in my garden near Lincoln UK. It is possible to say what it is without seeing the wings properly?

Janet:)

You are right, it is a female Melinda.

I never bother to distinguish between the 2 very similar species.
I'm lazy and it is not my group.

Thanks anyway Theo for confirming it is a Melinda sp.:)

I have more pics which are probably the same fly, male also, most with a little green tinge but also very blue. I have more angles of others so maybe will try my luck with other pcics.;)
