Hi,
This was bight orange and big, around 10mm or over. Taken on 19th May 2009.
Location, a few miles south of Lincoln UK.

Looks like P. fimetaria to me.
Check your white balance setting, it looks to be set to Tungsten.

It was a very, very orange fly, but there was a lot of glare on the wings so I reduced the highlights and darkened the pic. I'm not sure what the white balance was then, I was learning to use manual settings.;)

Hmm, reducing highlights and darkening can have an effect similar to white balance set to Tungsten. Experience talking :D

Lol, I have reverted the pics to the originals and started again, to re-do them on top of having already done them doesn't work well either ;). The sun had a bad effect on the whole thing.:|
