Hi All,
coming from the dragonfly-fraction I´m a bit lost upon a proper photo-diagnosis of hairy bugs flying only with two wings...
This Asilidae feeding on Ischnura saharensis was photographed in October 2000 in Tunesia at the oasis wetlands near, Ghidma, some 15 km w of Douz.
(I apologize for the rather poor quality of the photo, it´s a scan of a slide.)
Can anyone help me with this fellow ?

Unfortunately, the image size is low. If the legs are completely black, the species seems to be
Machimus ermineus. Another commen species is
Machimus cribratus, which has reddish stripes on the posterior part of the femora.
