Hello,
This species is unknown to me. ID will be very much appreciated. It is from South East Turkey and flight time in April.
Thanks a lot.

Ante Vujic is the one you should communicate with, on Merodon. He's writing the revision. :)

I have just read his Merodon revision of Spain that in 2007 published and found his e-mail. I will write to him; perhaps I have a chance for the specific name. I would like to place this species in the Gallery of Diptera.info with pleasure.
Thanks for your information.

This characteristic looking species may be well identifiable with Sack maybe?

I have sent a message to Dr. Vujic. Have you a copy (pdf) Sack's publication?

No, I don't unfortunately. Just a paper copy.
But maybe if I find time one of these days, I could copy the Merodon part for you.
Would you be so kind to send me an email on this, just to remind me?
You have my address...

Besides, you can't do without the following publications I think:

I think there are more than 20 species of Merodon in Turkey and in the coming season, we have to spare much time for them.

Just making pictures of them will not be enough, that's for sure! :)

Snezana Radenkovic identified this one as probably female of M. quadrinotata Sack, 1931(Known from Iran and Turkey)... Amazing species...
