The single pictures was taken in June 2009, Germany, Saxony, Chemnitz.
Is an ID possible? Thanks Marion

Ephydridae I think (from the arista). Could it be Notiphila brunipes?

Stephen.

Thank you, Stephen. It looks like Notiphila brunipes in the gallery. Notiphila brunipes should exist in Germany, but unfortunately together with 10 other Notiphila species.

Notiphila brunipes is more likely. For my sorrow the face is in shadow and coloration is not seen well. In brunipes it is silvery or golden-silvery, bright, contrasting to dark coloration of frons. The other characters - black antennae and black tibiae are of N.brunipes.B)

Face is light and contrasting to the dark coloration of frons. It becomes visible when brightening the photo.
Thanks for explaining the characteristic features.
