Hello,

for this fly I am not even sure with the family. Stratiomyidae? What else?

The photo is from july from a valley in the austrian alps. Length was about 7mm.

Thanks,
Michael

Hello Phil,

thank you much for the correction. I have never heard about this family. If I look in the gallery, there seems to be one rather commen species - Scenopinus fenstralis, which look very similar to my. Can someone confirm or correct this?

Greetings,
Michael

Hello,

it seems, that in the region (southern germany, northern austria), there are only two Scenopinus species - S. fenestralis and S. niger, of which the latter has black wings and black legs. So it is rather certainly S. fenestralis.

The name window flies was absolutely correct here. I found it on the window of our hotel.

Greetings,
Michael
