Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Phoridae Scuttle fly

Hi,

This strange fly looks similar to Sphaeroceridae but I'm not sure, the closest I found was a back view!

Taken on 3rd November, a few miles south of Lincoln UK in my garden. Approx. 5mm long

Any help appreciated, thanks! 3 pics.

Phoridae or SCUTTLE FLY :D or even COFFIN FLY :|

EDIT; Change heading to Scuttle Fly to attract Brian Brown....might go further.

Thanks Roger, could be Megaselia sp. from what I've found. This is bigger than other Phoridae I have!

I found one on bugguide which looks even more like it, Diplonevra nitidula , not sure if that would be correct but hopefully the pics are good enough to tell.:D
