This fly is from a Malaise trap in southern central sOhio (USA) in October. The curious bend of M1 to join R4+5 reminds me of the one Rhinophorid we have in Ohio (Melanophora) but this isn't it. And I'm not sure what family it is. Any ideas?

If I were to guess then I'd say it looks more like a tachinid - flies like
Rondania and
Graphogaster look similar to this specimen :) Jim O'Hara in Canada would be able to tell you or if you have the Nearctic Manual of Diptera then you can key it to genus at least :)
