I have followed the discussion about Kurt's recently posted Pegomya with great interest. This one seems to have most, if not all, of the required charcters for a P. winthemi. Or is it an entirely different species? :)

At first....Anthomyiidae =mission impossible :D, but i wil give it a try to explane why i don't think it is a P.winthemi...

I can't see on your photos if the hind tarsi is laterally expanded.
Proboscis is clear yellow, but the palpus seems dark to me
It seems also to me that the arista is long haired (but can be a movement of the arista..?)....if so, then it is not a Pegomya at all..
Also the vitta seems all orange to me, and with the one i found yesterday, its only orange on the lower part.

I only have one species to compare with, so .....i don't dare to say wich species you have on the photo.
I study hard B), but not ready yet for species level....only familie level :D:D (sometimes)

I don't have any photo showing the tarsi, but the hind tarsi seem a little expanded.
Whether arista is long haired or not I can't say, but it's clearly plumose (see photo below).
If not Pegomya, then what?

The hairs on the arista can fit within Pegomya.
When i look within the species with yellow calli+scutellum+addomen+legs.....the only one with longer aristal hairs, could be P.transgressa(Zetterstedt)
(longest hairs about as long as basal diameter of arista)
Also humelar calli and suctellum has to be less orange and hindtibia with 2 ad setae + tarsi darker.
But is it ...transgressa?
I don't want to make the experts angry :o
So...i let it be....a Pegomya sp. ;)

Thank you Joke for taking all this time with me and my little fly. I'm perfectly happy with Pegomya sp. and I find your notes on my photo most educational.

You should be aware, though, that I will be back with more impossile missions :D
