Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Melanostoma, if yes which one ?

size: about 9mm
is it Melanostoma, perhaps mellinum? (or scalare?)

Yes, it's Melanostoma. The frons dust spots looks small so I'd say M. mellinum. A female.

I think it is
scalare, but there is some room for discussion 'cause the view on the face is a little bit 'far away'.

thought to see a gloss on the black parts of face . . .

I'll stick with
mellinum as I don't see any dust spots to speak of.
