This tiny, but beautiful bronze fly seemed to choose the spot where I was looking for weefils to start ovipositioning before my eyes.
Does it have a name?

Yes, it has a name, and I can put you in the right direction!:D
It belongs to the family Sepsidae, and I know it is a difficult family to identify to genus and species, especially from a picture.
But maybe there are people who can tell you more!

As a matter of fact Gerard, this one's genus name is quite easy. The spot in the wing immediately mark it as a species of
Sepsis. I will have to sit down and check for the species name, but I think it is possible to get that, too.
