this one was shot at the south edge of a wood, in Loire-atlantique, western France, in october 06 2009.
i think it is a Platypezidae : is it possible to go further ?

Difficult to say, most probably
Platypeza fasciata, I'm sure with the genus, but not sure about the species level.
