I guess Sarcophaga sp may be all that can be said about the participants in this tender scene. The male is probably about 9mm, and the photo is from September 23.

I wonder why the male is so much bigger here, when the male in (for example) Calliphora is smaller than the female.

WOW:D.....nice photo and observation!
I know there can be a large difference between male an female, but never seen such a large difference!
