The idea to put flowering plants on my balcony brings me each day other syrphidaes visiting the flowers:

Location: Switzerland, near lake zurich, 412 müM, on my balcony
Date: 04.10.09
Size: about 7-8 mm ?

Thank you for help! Best Regards, Brigitte

Guess you know already that Metasyrphus is the old name for Eupeodes (just to be sure, to say that you were close).
