Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Muscidae?

Hello all - as a complete novice where diptera are concerned, am I at least in the right family with Muscidae for this one? Photographed in Wolverhampton, England, today.

Wow! Spot on, Stephane! Are these so-called "Robber Flies", because I have seen various pictures of them on the Internet where they are clutching other flies and apparently eating them?

yes... Coenosia are famous for being predators. ;)
