Hello!

This 8 mm long fly sat at the border of a forest track near a pond, near Zwickau (SE Saxony, Germany). Can you identify its species and sex?

Thank you in advance, Xaver

Hi Xaver.
Rhagio sp., Rhagionidae. Probably somebode will give you species level.

Difficult to say for sure, without the pterostigma being visible, but I think it is R. lineola, one of the smaller species in the genus, that has a more or less unicolorous greyish mesonotum and rings on the tips of the fore and hind femora.
