Hi,
I must apologize for the bad quality of these pictures! It was close to sunset yesterday evening, the fly was tiny - and anyhow I have difficulties to get Empidids into focus (or should I blame the camera?). Nevertheless I hope to get a genus name for this small fat female feeding on milfoil. The sides of the abdomen looked brownish in contrast to the grey thorax.
